VARTSOT was founded in 2005 as Denmark’s first folk metal band, and have since been instrumental in establishing the Danish folk metal scene. The band’s unique style is the bastard offspring of the meeting between folk and medieval music’s catchy melodies and the raw energy of death metal. Whilst rhythm guitar, bass and drums lay a solid foundation to the authentic tones on mandolin, bagpipes and whistles, the lead guitar builds a bridge between the two worlds. SVARTSOT’s growled and predominantly Danish lyrics are inspired by old tales from Denmark’s wealth of folklore and history.
